Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have released the nominee list for its 12th edition, ahead of the main ceremony set for May 9.

Earlier, the organisers confirmed veteran actress Joke Silva as Head Judge, taking over from Femi Odugbemi.

The 2026 edition will feature 32 award categories, including 18 decided by a jury, 11 open to audience voting, and three special honours such as the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards.

In a move to broaden its continental reach, two new categories have been introduced: Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa), reinforcing the awards’ commitment to pan-African representation.
