Nigerian authorities in Ghana have rescued two more Nigerian girls. This recent rescue brings the total number of Nigerian girls rescued in Ghana to 13, following last week’s rescue of 11 girls from Imo and Plateau States, who were also trafficked under false promises of employment but forced into prostitution.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa disclosed in a statement today that the rescue operation, facilitated by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Ghana, resulted in the safe custody of the two girls, who hail from Lagos and Edo States respectively.

Reiterating the call for concerted efforts to combat human trafficking, Dabiri-Erewa added that the rescued girls are giving valuable information to arrest their traffickers.
