The Federal Government has said it would offer free train service to all Nigerians from Dec. 20 up until Jan. 5, 2025.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, told State House correspondents after the FEC meeting yesterday that the Free Transportation (train) initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to reducing the socio-economic challenges faced by vulnerable Nigerians.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Minister also announced that Council also approved the renaming of the University of Abuja to Yakubu Gowon University, in honor of former military Head of State and elder statesman, retired General Yakubu Gowon, adding that the name change, will require ratification by the National Assembly.
The Information Minister disclosed that the Council will go on break from December 18th to resume January 6th 2025.
