The Federal Executive Council has approved the launch of four new satellites to support Earth observation and boost national security.
Speaking at the 22nd National Council on Innovation, Science and Technology in Abuja, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji said the satellites—three for Earth observation and one radar satellite—will provide round-the-clock imaging crucial for military operations, address insecurity, unemployment, and climate change.
The minister also emphasized the need to bridge the gap between research and real-world application, calling for stronger industry-academia collaboration and innovation funding.
