Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, will compete in Group D of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, facing France, Canada, and Samoa.
The official draw was held on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat, Morocco, which will host the tournament. The Flamingos were placed in Pot 1 alongside other top teams, including the United States, Spain, Japan, Morocco, and reigning champions North Korea. The seedings were based on performances in the past five editions of the competition.
Nigeria secured its spot in the global tournament by defeating South Africa in the penultimate round of African qualifiers and overcoming Algeria in the final round.
Alongside Nigeria, four other African nations—Morocco, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Zambia—will participate. This marks Nigeria’s eighth appearance in the event, with their best result being a bronze medal win in India in 2022.
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
