The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it is set to release a supplementary document aimed at providing clearer procedures for the review of election results in line with Section 65 of the Electoral Act 2022.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who made this known in Abuja today during the second quarterly consultative meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), explained that the supplementary guidelines would provide clarity on when and how election results can be reviewed, ensuring transparency and consistency in the process.

The INEC Chairman’s remarks come amid preparations for five major elections scheduled between August 2025 and August 2026, including bye-elections in 12 states, the Anambra Governorship election, FCT Area Council polls, and the Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections.

Yakubu further charged Resident Electoral Commissioners to intensify efforts at the state level, reminding them of their critical role in implementing INEC policies, managing electoral logistics, and enhancing voter access to polling units.
