A Lagos-based National Youth Service Corps member, Ushie Uguamaye, has alleged threats to life following her now viral video criticising President Bola Tinubu’s government over inflation and economic hardship.
In the video shared on her TikTok account #talktoraye, Uguamaye expressed frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, openly criticised President Tinubu by also calling him a “terrible leader,” and questioned the government’s efforts to alleviate citizens’ suffering.
Additionally, she described Lagos State where she is posted to serve her NYSC as a “smelling state” complaining about its foul Smell and living conditions.
Shortly after her video gained traction, Uguamaye alleged that she began receiving threats, pressuring her to take down the content. But she continues to insist that she did nothing wrong with her right to free speech, and she only spoke the truth about Nigeria’s realities.
However, with Uguamaye indicating that she had been invited by the NYSC today Monday, it appears some of her outburst may run contrary to the NYSC rules book.
