A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike, has revealed plans to hold state congresses and a national convention to elect new party officials.

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, the chairman of this group’s Board of Trustees, shared the update during their meeting at Wike’s residence in Abuja on Sunday.

According to Ohuabunwa, efforts are ongoing to restructure the party in states affected by internal disputes by setting up caretaker committees.

He emphasized the importance of these steps to restore trust and strengthen the PDP’s internal democracy, making it a model for political fairness and inclusiveness in Nigeria.

Ohuabunwa also confirmed that the Board of Trustees will back the faction’s National Working Committee, chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed, ensuring that all party activities follow legal and party guidelines.
