President Tinubu approves ₦70,000 as New National Minimum Wage

Federal Government and Organised Labour have agreed on ₦70,000 as the New National Minimum Wage for Nigerian workers.

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, who announced this after President Tinubu meet with the leadership of the Organized Labour yesterday, said the President is expected to submit the new national minimum of ₦70,000 to the National Assembly for approval, adding that other incentives would be rolled out to cushion the effects of the economic hardships experienced by Nigerian workers.

Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, revealed that the new minimum wage will now be reviewed every three years.

On her part, the Minister of state for labour and employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said the President had directed the Ministers of Finance and Budget to work out modalities on how to settle the issues with the protesting university workers, over their four months’ withheld salaries.
