President Bola Tinubu has flagged off the construction of the 700 kilometres Lagos/Calabar coastal highway, ‘a flagship project of the renewed hope agenda.’
At the formalities yesterday, the president who described the flag off as his bragging day for embarking on the bold endeavour to transform the economy, said it was a hard decision for him and Hitech construction company to tame the ocean which is gradually becoming a success story.
Earlier, the Minister of Works Engr Dave Umahi, who commended the presidentās bold initiative, said three kilometres of the first section of the road construction has been completed, whilst also targeting the completion of the project in 24 months.
Also, on behalf of traditional rulers, the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun the second, assured the president that Lagos traditional institution will ensure all bottlenecks are removed to ensure that the project is successful, just as he called on the government to also provide adequate compensation for those whose properties are being demolished.
