President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the Nigeria Education Loan Fund to commence the disbursement of the Student Loan Scheme in Nigeria.

Speaking during the Presidential launch and the disbursement of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to ensure more inclusiveness and provision of sufficient funds to sustain the scheme, noting that education remains the greatest weapon against poverty.

Executive Secretary of the NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said the scheme received over 110, 000 loan applications from different geopolitical zones of the country, while N32billion is available for disbursement to kick start the program. 

After launching the portal, President Tinubu handed out symbolic cheques to students from each geo-political zones, as well as some tertiary institutions present.
