The House of Representatives has given WAEC 24 hours to explain widespread irregularities during the 2025 WASSCE, including students writing exams late at night by torchlight.

WAEC blames delays on efforts to prevent question leaks but skipped a scheduled hearing, prompting lawmakers’ anger.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called the situation a “national disgrace” and demanded a resit of the English exam.

WAEC is now under intense pressure to account for its actions or face parliamentary sanctions.
