Embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was today barred from gaining entrance into the chambers.
The suspended Kogi lawmaker defied the narrative of the senate and stormed the National Assembly complex with a large crowd of supporters today in Abuja.
Addressing journalists outside the National Assembly complex, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned her denial of access to the Senate chamber, describing the development as a grave affront to constitutional democracy and rule of law, as well as accusing the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of undermining judicial authority.
The senator from Kogi Central who dismissed claims that the Senate appealed the judgment, revealed that it was Senator Akpabio, in his personal capacity, who filed the appeal, further explaining that the court’s decision reinstating her was binding under the Constitution, regardless of the terminology used.
