Nigeria Olympic Committee Begins Payment Of Compensation
The investigative panel set up to address Team Nigeria’s negative exposure at the Paris 2024 Olympics/Paralympic Games has recommended the payment of N8 million compensation to athlete, Favour Ofili. In a 54-page document, the committee, chaired by Mumini Alao, highlighted the conflicting evidence regarding Ofili’s omission from the women’s 100m at the Olympics, pointing to potential lapses by officials from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the Nigeria Olympic Committee. It said AFN Secretary General, Rita Mosindi, and Technical Director, Samuel Onikeku, should be sanctionedfor their roles in Ofili’s omission, and advised the athlete to improve her conduct. The committee also recommended a code of governance for the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the Sports ministry, now known as National Sports Commission. The Super Falcons continued dominating Algeria yesterday with a 4-1 win in the second-leg of their international friendlies at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos. Folashade Ijamilusi’s hat-trick was the highlight the afternoon, while Gift Monday added another goal to secure a second consecutive victory over the Green Ladies. Super Falcons Open Camp Ahead Of International Friendlies
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Gift Monday are now in the Super Falcons camp in Lagos ahead of the two international friendlies against Algeria this month. The trio are among the foreign-based players invited for the double-header friendlies by caretaker coach, Justin Madugu. The remaining overseas-based stars are expected in camp yesterday.
