The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned the newly formed opposition coalition to stop using Nigerians for their personal affairs.
He made this remark during his monthly media parley at his official Abuja residence on Thursday.
According to him, the recent coalition by some political figures who adopted the African Democratic Party (ADC) as their political platform was not in the interest of Nigerians.
Regarding local issues, particularly the ongoing teachers’ strike, the minister clarified that resolving the situation isn’t solely within his authority.
He noted that responsibility for the owed salaries lies with the area councils, not the FCT administration. Wike said he has already withheld the 10% internally generated revenue allocated to the councils but emphasized that his capacity is limited since the outstanding payments total approximately ₦18 billion.
