A protest march was held in Lusaka, Zambia, in response to recent cases of child rape, including horrific incidents where fathers were involved in abusing their own children.

The protest, organized by civil society groups, musicians, and individuals, called for tougher laws, including the removal of bail for child rape suspects and harsher penalties, such as castration for perpetrators.

Zambia’s Justice Minister, Princess Kasune-Zulu, has supported the castration proposal as a deterrent.

The protest highlighted the urgent need for stronger protection for children, as Zambia has seen over 10,000 cases of gender-based violence involving children in recent months.
