FEC Approves Sale of Crude Oil to Dangote Refinery and others in Naira

The Federal Executive Council has approved the sales of crude oil to local Refineries in Nigeria, Including Dangote Refinery to be denominated in Naira at a fixed exchange rate.

Announcing this after the FEC meeting on Monday, the Special Adviser on Revenue to the President and FIRS Chairman, Zack Adedeji explained that the strategic intervention is necessary to leverage the refinery, maintain exchange rate and price stability.

He added that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL has already committed to supplying four crude oil cargoes monthly to be sold to Dangote Refinery, leaving the remainder to be procured from international traders, with the Afrexim bank as facilitator.

Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Minister of Health and Coordinating Minister for Social works, Dr Ali Pate disclosed that Council approved the purchase of 7,887 dialysis consumables to be distributed to 7 Federal Tertiary hospitals across the country, in order to enhance healthcare access for citizens suffering from kidney diseases.

“These hospitals are University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Center in Ebuta Metta, Federal Medical Center in Owerri, the National Hospital, Abuja, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, University Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.”

On his part, Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi said FEC deliberated extensively on holistic crime-fighting and anti-corruption policy and approved various agreements involving the repatriation of fugitives for justice and prisoners’ swap between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Spain.
