Leicester yesterday sacked its manager, Steve Cooper, with the Foxes just two points above the Premier League relegation zone.
The 44-year-old Cooper, who was appointed in June, won just two of his 12 Premier League games in charge, and the final straw came as Chelsea won 2-1 in Maresca’s return to the King Power on Saturday.
First team coach Ben Dawson will take temporary charge while the club conclude the search for a successor.
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim got off to a gloomy start as Manchester United manager in a 1-1 draw at lowly Ipswich on Sunday.
The result leaves United 12th in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, while Ipswich are still in the drop zone.
