The Chief Medical Director, National Hospital, Abuja (NHA), Prof. Muhammad Mahmud, says Nigerian universities are still very good choices for the study of medicine.
Speaking in Abuja, the Chief Medical Director who admitted that there were challenges of funding and equipment, however added that Nigerian medical trainees were about “the best in the world” owing to their hands-on training.

Meanwhile, Prof. Mahmud, had also argued that in spite of allegations of neglect against the National hospital, it has never turned down patients.
The CMD who noted that such reports were not uncommon, gave reasons that may have given rise to the allegations, adding that sometimes when a patient is brought in and rushed to the emergency ward, there may be lack of accommodation.
