Retired Police Officers under the contributory pension scheme yesterday stormed the National Assembly in Abuja, in protest of their several months’ unpaid pensions.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Chairman of the retirees, Christopher Effiong, lamented the unbearable conditions of the retired police officers, asking the Federal government to remove them from the Contributory pension scheme, and called on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to urgently intervene.
Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Yunus Akintunde, addressed the protesters, tasking them to create a committee to link with the national assembly for updates on actions to resolve the issue.
