Senate extends the implementation of supplementary budget

The Senate on Tuesday extended the implementation period for the 2023 supplementary budget from March 31 to June 30, 2024, and handed it over to its Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, for expeditious consideration by passing it for second and third readings.

The Senate, had, in December 2023, extended the implementation of the N1.3 trillion supplementary budget from December 31, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

Similarly, the Senate Ad-hoc Committee probing the N30tn Ways and Means loans to the Federal Government, disclosed that it would summon the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, having discovered 13 infractions in the process of obtaining the loan during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from the CBN.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Isah Jibrin (Kogi East) had alleged that the former governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, unilaterally signed billions of naira in the approval of different tranches of the loan without following due process.
